Eastern NC Sustainability Summit

The 4th Annual Eastern North Carolina Sustainability Summit is coming soon!  Please join us on Wednesday, October 26th at Halifax Community College from 8:30 am to 5 pm.  The event is open to everyone and general registration is FREE thanks to the generosity of partners, grantors, and sponsors.

This Summit is for everyone interested in learning about the concepts and practices of sustainability and how it can improve the economy, create job opportunities, and improve quality of life for communities now while preserving resources for the next generations.  It offers sessions from noted speakers and experts on renewable energy, the local food economy and agriculture, water, alternative fuel vehicles, and more.

The event plans to include local food trucks, exhibitors, and an alternative fuel clean vehicle show with automobiles that run on electricity, compressed natural gas, ethanol, propane, and biodiesel from a variety of manufacturers and dealers.

MobileCARE Nominations Open

Do you know an outstanding person, business, organization, or fleet dedicated to reducing their transportation related emissions?  Nominate them for a Mobile Clean Air Renewable Energy (CARE) award!  The MobileCARE awards are an effort to recognize exemplary individual and organizational efforts in North Carolina aimed at reducing transportation related emissions, promoting fuel diversity, and encouraging efficiency through clean transportation technologies.  Nominations are open until September 21 and winners will be announced in October. Drive Electric Cary

All across the country, EV enthusiasts will come together to celebrate National Drive Electric Week. Join Triangle Clean Cities in Cary to see the latest electric vehicles up close, talk to dealerships and drivers and learn more about the newest technology. Educational tables will be out on display for residents interested in learning more about these new technologies, along with dealers and local EV drivers onsite to answer questions about the driving experience behind the wheel of an electric vehicle.

The Bachelor of Biofuels

This weekend (August 26-28), join Growth Energy, The Bachelor’s Chris Soules and WomenAutoKnow’s Audra Fordin at the Southern Women’s Show in Charlotte, North Carolina to hear about how biofuels – like ethanol – are keeping our air cleaner, cars performing better and wallets a little heavier. More importantly, learn how North Carolinians can soon benefit from higher blends of ethanol at Sheetz gas stations around the state. Soules and Fordin will be giving a special presentation on Saturday, August 27 at 3:00pm and the Novozymes Zymobile (a car that runs on blends of biofuels will make an appearance) – don’t miss out!

Sustainable Transportation Showcase

On Sept.14, NC State University, the North Carolina Clean Energy Technology Center, and Advanced Energy are teaming up to host a Sustainable Transportation Showcase on the Brickyard at North Carolina State University from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. This fun, interactive car and bike show will be an opportunity for students, faculty and staff to encounter sustainable transportation options. The showcase will feature electric, natural gas, propane, and biofuel vehicles along with many other sustainable transportation technologies.  To find out more about the Sustainable Transportation Showcase here.
